General Assembly has been growing rapidly, so we needed to establish a design system for visual consistency and to improve team efficiency. We followed an adapted version of the Atomic Design Methodology and built out a Base, Atoms, Molecules and Organisms.

We decided to divide our library into separate Kits: The “Universal Kit” could be used by all other kits, the “Web Kit” included web specific components, the “Product Kit” was specifically built for the software products and a “Marketing Kit” for the Marketing team.
Patterns in Action
While building out the patterns library, we continuously test and iterate.
